Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght Hospital.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

62 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he is taking to ensure that the position of chief executive officer of Tallaght Hospital will be filled promptly when the current incumbent leaves his position in April 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5964/99]

The position of chief executive officer at Tallaght Hospital is primarily a matter for the board of management of the hospital. I understand the board will shortly be advertising the position in order to fill the vacancy currently arising in the near future.

The troika appointed to assist the hospital has had discussions with the officers of the board of the hospital with a view to the speedy replacement of the chief executive officer and necessary interim arrangements. In this regard the board has recently appointed an acting deputy chief executive officer. I consider it important that the process of recruitment will be completed as speedily as possible. I have every confidence that the board of management will do everything appropriate to the best interests of the hospital in this regard.
