160 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the timeframe within which the submissions and applications for lottery funding will be examined; the process in this regard; and when the successful projects will be announced. [6446/99]

Almost 1,900 applications have been received for assistance from this year's round of allocations under the sports capital programme. These are currently being examined in accordance with the guidelines and terms and conditions for the programme which were issued with the application forms.

Given the large number of applications received and the level of work involved in evaluating them, I do not expect to be in a position to make final announcements on the 1999 round of grant allocations for some time yet.
