Vol. 501 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Agreements.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

74 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Finance if the public sector pensioners representatives, such as the National Association of Retired Public Employees, will be involved in consultation to devise a successor programme to Partnership 2000; and his views in this regard. [6521/99]

A decision on the participants in the negotiations on a successor agreement to Partnership 2000 is expected to be made later this year. Partnership 2000 is a three-year programme expiring at the end of this year, but the pay element runs for 39 months, expiring at the end of March 2000 in many parts of the private sector and at the end of September 2000 in the public service.

The interests of public service pensioners have been well represented to date by the public services committee of Congress in the case of the PCW restructuring deals and by the Retired Civil and Public Servants Association in regular meetings with officials of my Department.
