80 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the new promised legislation to provide additional protection for witnesses arising from the Garda McCabe murder case will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7213/99]

I intend bringing forward my legislative proposals on the protection of witnesses by way of amendment to the Criminal Justice (No. 2) Bill. This Bill is currently before Dáil Éireann awaiting Report Stage, and I hope that its remaining stages can be taken very shortly by agreement.
