Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

223 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused entry to the REP scheme in view of the fact the only commonage share on his folio comprises of 1/37th share which is a lake and he cannot give it away; his views on whether the refusal is reasonable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8048/99]

The REP scheme application of the person named could not be accepted as he is the owner of a commonage share. Under the revised REP scheme provision is made for farmers with commonage shares to join the scheme. The specifications for the revised scheme will be available by Easter after which an application from the person named can be processed.
