Vol. 502 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brendan Daly

Question:

61 Mr. Daly asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has for decentralisation of Government or State agency offices to the regions; if he will consider Kilrush, County Clare, as a location; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8638/99]

The position is that the current programme of decentralisation has yet to be completed and there is no decision to extend it to any further centres. However, I am at present considering the many issues relevant to decentralisation policy and I propose to discuss these with my colleagues in Government in the near future. I have noted the case made by you for the inclusion of Kilrush as a location in any new decentralisation programme.
