Vol. 503 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

126 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will prioritise an application for national lottery funding for a club (details supplied) in Tralee, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10640/99]

An application for financial assistance under the sports capital programme has been received from the club in question. This is one of almost 1,900 applications and will be considered when decisions on grant allocations for 1999 are being made, in accordance with the criteria for awarding such grants as set out in the terms and conditions of the programme.

In view of the large number of applications received, and the level of work involved in evaluating them, I do not expect to be in a position to make final announcements on the 1999 round of allocations for some time yet.
