In addition to the salary scale all teachers are paid an allowance in respect of qualifications. These allowances vary depending on the level of qualification. Teachers who hold posts of responsibility i.e. principals, deputy principals, assistant principals and special duties teachers are paid additional allowances for those posts. The allowances for posts of responsibility were increased by 28 per cent in accordance with the PCW agreement with the teacher unions.
