Question:

89 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress with the refurbishment and extension of the accident and emergency department and a new 20 bed ward at the Children's Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin 1; when new facilities be available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10609/99]

The Deputy will be aware that in June 1998, my Department approved funding of £1.7 million for the refurbishment of the accident and emergency department, and the provision of a new twenty-bedded ward at the Children's Hospital, Temple Street. The planning of this development has now been completed and the project is under active consideration within my Department.
