Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - Arts Funding.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

223 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the grants, if any, available for a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has been offered a place in the Royal Ballet School in London; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10795/99]

My Department does not operate any grants scheme to assist individual artists. The main source of public funds for the arts in this country is An Chomhairle Ealaíon, The Arts Council, which operates independent of my Department under the Arts Acts, 1951 and 1973.
