Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Denis Naughten

Question:

257 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science when his Department will approve phase two of the building programme for the community college at Lanesboro, County Longford; the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10678/99]

Following the completion of an extension to Lanesboro community college, County Longford Vocational Education Committee sought approval for refurbishment works to the existing accommodation. The chief executive officer was authorised to request the design team to submit a report on the necessary works with cost estimates. While this report has been received and considered, because of cost implications, officials in the building unit of my Department determined that a visit to the school is necessary to fully evaluate the application.

This visit will be undertaken in the near future. Thereafter, a decision will be made in this matter which will be conveyed to the chief executive officer.
