Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - Leaving Certificate Correction Centres.

Richard Bruton

Question:

262 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the motion passed by the National Parents Council requesting that his Department establish centres for the correction of leaving certificate papers and introduce a scheme requiring all examiners to attend at these centres to correct the papers; and if he has entered into discussions with the teaching unions to ascertain the level of support for this approach which would promote a more consistent environment for the correction of the papers. [10683/99]

The position in relation to this matter is as set out in my reply to the Deputy's question on 20 April 1999.

This matter has not arisen in any discussions held with the teacher unions on the administration of the examinations.
