Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - New Houses.

Question:

38 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of local authority, voluntary and co-operative houses planned to be built during 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8484/99]

I expect that approximately 3,700 houses will be completed or purchased by local authorities in 1999 and that the voluntary, non-profit and co-operative sector will provide between 900 and 1,000 houses. Output from these sectors, together with output from the complementary social housing measures and vacancies occurring in the existing housing stock, will enable the needs of some 10,300 households to be catered for in 1999.
