Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

John Bruton

Question:

87 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Taoiseach if he will provide details of the files and records in his Department relating to a company (details supplied), a former employee of his Department, meetings held by one of his predecessors (details supplied) and representatives from the European Commission ISPRA, and related EU contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11005/99]

Records exist in my Department relating to the company in question and more specifically to a proposal for a renewable energy project. The substantive records refer in the main to some draft agreements reached between the company and the ESB as well as to contacts, including meetings, between interested parties, including briefings on developments provided to the then Taoiseach, and an independent expert evaluation of the research project carried out in June 1995 for the joint research centre of the European Commission. The former employee of the Department participated in discussions on the project as part of his duties in promoting economic development projects.
