122 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the way in which the local contribution amount for a new primary school in Fahy, Westport, County Mayo, will be decided when the contract for the project has not been awarded and the contract price has not been set; and the way in which the contribution amount demanded was calculated. The contract for the extension to Fahy national school has now been awarded. The total cost of the extension will be £451,391. This figure includes the basic building cost, contingencies, furniture and fees.
The local contribution requested was £22,600. The new funding arrangements I announced in January of this year were applied in this case. This has resulted in a saving of over £40,000 for the local community.
