Vol. 503 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Project.

Michael Ring

Question:

122 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the way in which the local contribution amount for a new primary school in Fahy, Westport, County Mayo, will be decided when the contract for the project has not been awarded and the contract price has not been set; and the way in which the contribution amount demanded was calculated. [11117/99]

The contract for the extension to Fahy national school has now been awarded. The total cost of the extension will be £451,391. This figure includes the basic building cost, contingencies, furniture and fees.

The local contribution requested was £22,600. The new funding arrangements I announced in January of this year were applied in this case. This has resulted in a saving of over £40,000 for the local community.
