Vol. 503 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

87 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person in County Sligo, who is a land owner and worked as a farmer but is now receiving a carer's allowance for the full-time care of a disabled person, will be eligible to apply for a grant for the erection of a slatted shed for housing cattle. [11112/99]

Under the terms of the proposed new scheme for the control of farm pollution submitted to the European Commission for approval, participation will be confined to applicants with not more than 100 income units of which at least 25 per cent of these units must be derived from farming. The carer's allowance is treated as income neutral for the purposes of the scheme and will not affect entitlement to grant aid in respect of justifiable investment.
