Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Michael Finucane

Question:

154 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who has submitted all the documentation is eligible for the farm retirement scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11580/99]

The relevant lands were transferred by the landowner, some years prior to his death, directly to his son on the 29 July 1994. As a consequence the applicant cannot be an eligible transferor.

John McGuinness

Question:

155 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the case will be examined for a person (details supplied) in County Laois to determine if he is in receipt of his full entitlement under the farm retirement scheme. [11622/99]

Under the terms and conditions of the scheme of early retirement from farming the annual pension is comprised of payment of a basic 4,830 Euros (£3803.93) and 301.9 Euros (£237.77) per hectare up to a maximum total payment of 12,075 Euros (£9,509.84) for a farm of 24 hectares or over (1 Euro = IR£0.787564).

The applicant joined the scheme with 10.999 hectares and the calculations are as follows:

Basic

£3,803.93

10.999 hectares x £237.77

£2,615.19

Annual Pension

£6,419.12

The position is that the applicant is receiving £6,419.12 per annum on 10.999 hectares which is the correct amount he is due under this scheme.
