Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ulick Burke

Question:

168 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when 1997 area aid and extensification grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in view of the fact all requirements have been complied with; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11659/99]

The person concerned submitted an area aid application on which he declared 32.37 hectares of forage area in 1997. The area aid application contained a parcel of land which had an overclaim of 2.37 hectares. This matter was finally resolved when processing his 1998 area aid application and the appropriate penalties were applied, in respect of his 1997 application, in accordance with those set out in Article 9 of EU Regulation 3887/92. As a result the declared area was reduced to 27.72 hectares for stocking density calculations. Nonetheless it will be possible to pay extensification in this case in respect of 1997.

Arrangements are being made to have the outstanding payments issued as soon as possible.
