Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Denis Naughten

Question:

248 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of offices or institutions under his Department which are open to the public; the number of these accessible to people with disabilities; the plans, if any, there are to ensure all buildings are accessible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11751/99]

A total of 53 offices of my Department are open to the public, of these 31 are accessible to people with disabilities. The remaining offices are centres from which driving tests are conducted by appointment and for which entrance to the centre is not critical. Nevertheless, it remains an objective of my Department to ensure that all offices are accessible to people with disabilities and this aspect is factored into the specifications for changes to or the upgrading of centres as they arise.
