Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Denis Naughten

Question:

105 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of offices or institutions under her Department which are open to the public; the number of these accessible to people with disabilities; the plans, if any, there are to ensure all buildings are accessible; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11743/99]

There are 11 offices in my Department which are open to the public. Ten of these offices have wheelchair access for disabled people. The only office without wheelchair access is the headquarters in Kildare Street. Work on providing wheelchair access to Kildare Street has commenced and will be completed by the end of May 1999.

The accessibility for disabled people to offices of the agencies under the aegis of my Department are matters of day-to-day administration for the agencies concerned and I have no function in the matter.
