Vol. 504 No. 5

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Ulick Burke

Question:

112 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of miles from the residence in Dublin of a person (details supplied) to the lands farmed in west Connemara; if she has a herd or flock number; if this person on the date of approval for the REP scheme had such a number; if not, the reason therefor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12336/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 132 of 27 April 1999. The person concerned has a flock number. The flock number was approved for this person prior to acceptance into the REP scheme.

This application has been thoroughly vetted and my Department is satisfied that it meets the terms and conditions of the scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

113 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if compensation for tuberculosis reactors will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact the application is with his Department for some time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12374/99]

The two animals in question were positive to a blood test on 8 September 1998. Both animals had been bought into the herd on 2 April 1998 without being pre-movement tested. Grant rates at the rate appropriate in this case have been paid to the herdowner in question.
