Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

David Stanton

Question:

149 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if grants were paid to a company (details supplied) in Midleton, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12602/99]

As I indicated in my replies to Questions Nos. 164 and 165 on 9 March, the company was paid grants totalling £11,570 in respect of research and development activities at the Midleton plant. It also assumed liability for research and development grants of £73,539 paid to the previous owners. Based on the proposed timescale announced by the company for the scaling down of its operations at Midleton, no repayment liability will exist in respect of these grants.

Denis Naughten

Question:

150 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in headage payment to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; when payment will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12616/99]

The area aid unit of my Department wrote to the person concerned in August 1998 requesting clarification on the application form submitted. While a reply to this letter was received in September 1998 it did not give any clearer indication as to the location of his land. However as part of the finalisation of all out standing 1998 applications an official of my Department was in contact with the person concerned to identify the location of his land. It is understood that he will be submitting maps to the area aid unit over the next few days. The matter will be progressed as soon as these are received.
