Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Butter Fat Records.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

171 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the average yearly butter fat records for the years 1983-84 and 1984-85 on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [12882/99]

In accordance with EU and national milk quota regulations, super levy is established at the level of milk purchasers and the records of individual producers' milk quotas and butterfat representative levels are thus held by the purchasers. They are not held by my Department.

Under the provisions of the European Communities (Milk Quota) Regulations 1995 (S.I. No 266 of 1995) milk purchasers are required to determine the fat content of milk delivered by producers. The purchaser is required to notify each producer of the results of the fat tests and to retain and preserve the records of these results.
