250 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will announce the establishment of a commission on housing to investigate the issue of security of tenure within the private rented sector; the discussions, if any, he has had with various interested parties on this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 143 of 24 March 1999. While no formal discussions have been held as yet, I intend that my Department will have discussions with a number of interested parties in advance of an announcement in this regard.
