Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John McGuinness

Question:

315 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, made in the case of an application for a visa for a person (details supplied) in Galway; and if the application will be expedited in view of the information already submitted. [12940/99]

The person in question was issued with a letter informing him that his permission to remain in the State would not be renewed. He was given 21 days to leave the State voluntarily or to make representations as to why a deportation order should not be made in respect of him. Representations were received and are currently under examination by my Department. I expect that a decision will be made in the near future.
