Burke asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to make permanent the director of the County Galway VEC outdoor education centre at Petersburg in view of the fact that this person is over ten years in a temporary position; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated to the Deputy in my reply to his question on 24 February 1999, the report of a working group, which was established to review the operation of VEC outdoor education centres, was presented to me on 12 January 1999. The report is being considered in my Department in regard to the development of future policies with regard to vocational education committee outdoor education centres. The position regarding the status of managers of outdoor education centres is being considered in this general context.
