Vol. 506 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Currie

Question:

251 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science if phase two of Castleknock community college will be completed in time to allow the additional enrolment in September 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15946/99]

As outlined previously the building programme for the phase two extension at Castleknock community college has fallen behind schedule due to the recent scaffolders' strike. At this stage, it would appear that the project will not be fully completed in time for the September 1999 intake of pupils.

The chief executive officer of County Dublin vocational education committee and his design team are considering the question of renting temporary classrooms with a view to having the necessary accommodation ready for September for the expected student intake pending the completion of the extension project.
