Vol. 506 No. 5

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Michael Bell

Question:

48 Mr. Bell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the discussions, if any, she has had to date with the social partners on the report by the high level group on trade union recognition; when she will bring legislative proposals to the Government; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15813/99]

Following presentation of the report of the high level group to Government, consultations with the social partners and the relevant industrial relations and development agencies are continuing. I have asked the Labour Relations Commission to draft the codes of practice recommended in the high level group's report.

Work on the legislative proposals is proceeding apace and I hope it will be possible to put proposals to Government in the autumn.
