Vol. 507 No. 4

Written Answers. - Victims Remains.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

216 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the response, if any, to the appeal made in Dáil Éireann on 1 June 1999 for more information on the location of the bodies of the disappeared; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15824/99]

As the House will be aware, the Garda on 28 May took possession of a coffin at Old Faughart graveyard in County Louth, believed to contain the remains of Mr. Eamonn Molloy who has been missing since 1975, and that furthermore the remains of another two persons, believed to be the remains of Mr. Brian McKinney and Mr. John McClory who have been missing since 1978, were recovered on Tuesday at Colgagh in County Monaghan.

The Garda is maintaining ongoing contact with the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains to ensure that whatever information is available about the location of remains is exploited to the fullest extent and the searches to recover the remains of other victims are continuing.
