Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

626 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide Waterford County Council with the moneys to complete the Tramore ring road in view of the necessity for its completion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18290/99]

My Department's 1999 non-national roads grant allocation to Waterford County Council of £5.817 million includes a grant of £203,000 for the Tramore ring road in relation to works to facilitate housing development; some £97,000 was also paid to the council for the Tramore ring road under this scheme in 1998. These amounts are contributing towards the construction of some 1.3 kilometres of the Tramore ring road.

It is a matter for the council to consider whether to prioritise the remaining section of the Tramore ring road for funding from other resources available to it within its non-national road grant allocations.
