Vol. 508 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rural Development.

Michael Creed

Question:

136 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the plans, if any, he has within the context of the national development plan to facilitate the ongoing operation of those organisations who played a significant role in rural development in recent years in view of the anticipated reduction in funding for the F37 Leader local action groups. [19093/99]

Liam Lawlor

Question:

156 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will establish a national rural development programme from central funding to enable the process of rural development to continue at present levels if anticipated reductions in funding for the Leader programme occur and impact negatively on rural communities in Dublin and elsewhere. [19115/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 136 and 156 together.

The position is that all aspects of funding for Leader groups from the year 2000 are being considered in the context of preparing the national development plan.
