Vol. 508 No. 4

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

David Stanton

Question:

100 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 104 of 24 March 1999 and 45 of 24 June 1999 regarding options for coastal protection, he is in receipt of information that the study mentioned has commenced; the consultants engaged; when he expects the study to be completed; when he will be in a position to approve the necessary works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19286/99]

I understand from Cork County Council that the further study on coast protection at Youghal, which is being undertaken for the local authority by consulting engineers, commenced at the end of July. I am advised also that the report is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The options and funding needs for coast protection works at Youghal will be considered further when the results of the consultant's study are available.
