Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Brendan Smith

Question:

156 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a REP scheme payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19602/99]

The person named was selected for a compliance inspection on his agri-environmental plan. During the inspection it was discovered that the area farmed under the REP scheme did not agree with the area claimed under area aid. A letter explaining the reason for the difference has been received in the Department on 22/9/99. This letter is now under consideration and a decision on the payment will be made shortly.

Michael Ring

Question:

157 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Galway will receive a de-stocking payment under the REP scheme for the 200 quota rights leased. [19608/99]

The destocking premium payable under the REP scheme is confined to quota rights owned and not to quota rights leased. The person named has received his full entitlements under the terms and conditions of the scheme.
