Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Denis Naughten

Question:

315 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department has received the interdepartmental review relating to the Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill, 1998; if the officials have made a submission in relation to these views; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19604/99]

Following the passing of the Second Stage of the Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill, 1998, my Department sought the advice of the Attorney General on the legal and possible constitutional issues raised by the Bill. Given their important roles in relation to the issues raised in the Bill my Department has also sought the views of the Departments of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Enterprise, Trade and Employment and Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands. Once this consultation process has been completed and all the views have been received and considered, my officials will prepare a submission on the matter for me, with a view to presentation for a Committee Stage discussion at the earliest opportunity.
