Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Amalgamation.

Liam Aylward

Question:

329 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date for an amalgamation of Ladyswell boys' and girls' national school, Thomastown, County Kilkenny. [19475/99]

An application to amalgamate Ladyswell boys and girls national schools, Thomastown, County Kilkenny, is currently under review in my Department's planning and building unit.

Officials from the unit will shortly arrange a meeting with all of the parties concerned to clarify their position on amalgamation of the two schools. It is intended that this meeting will help to establish the degree of support for the proposal and also to highlight any obstacles. Having assessed the outcome of the meeting, my officials will then decide whether there is a firm basis for proceeding with amalgamation.
