Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Computerisation Programme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

339 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the pilot project for the use of computers to aid in the teaching of certain subjects in the classroom at second level which was to be up and running for the start of the current academic year; and when it will be under way. [19580/99]

In my reply to a previous question on this matter – No. 235 of 6 October 1999 – I stated that it is my intention that the schools integration project will be introduced with the minimum of delay and that every effort will be made by my Department to expedite the necessary groundwork for the project. This continues to be my intention and my Department, in consultation with the Attorney General's office, is working to clear the necessary contracts. The Deputy can rest assured that there will be no delay in completing this process.
