Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Liam Burke

Question:

67 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a sex case file (details supplied) which was with An Garda Síochána for six years was allowed to lie dormant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19690/99]

This case is currently before the courts and the Deputy will understand that, in the circumstances, I am, in accordance with longstanding practice and precedent, constrained in what I can say about it, as the matter is effectively sub judice.

I can assure him, however, that once the case has concluded, the conduct of this investigation will be reviewed by the Garda authorities.
