Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

115 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to remodel and improve the Garda station in Schull, County Cork; and, if so, when work will commence. [19566/99]

I am pleased to confirm that Schull is included in the Garda building programme as requiring a new "Basic Unit"-type Garda station, as refurbishment of the existing premises is not considered economically viable. Various options for the provision of the new Garda station are under consideration and, as progress in relation to same is ultimately dependent upon overall priorities and the availability of resources, it is not possible to provide a precise timeframe for the commencement of works.
