Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Computer Systems.

Derek McDowell

Question:

113 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the proposed new PULSE computer system will be operational for An Garda Síochána; if he has satisfied himself that all computer equipment in use by the Garda at the end of 1999 will be year 2000 com pliant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19733/99]

I understand from the Garda authorities that the process of transferring data from existing Garda mainframe systems to PULSE systems will begin shortly and that when completed, as a consequence, PULSE will be operationally ready by mid-November 1999. In relation to all other Garda computer systems, it is envisaged that these will also be year 2000 compliant within the above timeframe.
