Vol. 509 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

239 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry has to wait two years for an eye replacement at the Eye and Ear Hospital, Dublin; and if the procedure will be carried out without further delay in view of the seriousness of his situation. [20643/99]

The scheduling of hospital appointments is solely a matter for the relevant hospital personnel to determine based upon clinical priority.

I have, therefore, asked the secretary-manager at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital to look into this matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
