192 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will make a financial contribution towards the cost of sending a party of six sheep shearers and wool handlers together with a team manager to Australia in March 2000 on the occasion of the International Golden Shears Championships; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department endeavours to be as supportive as possible of all important events in the agricultural calendar. The organisers of this event have not approached my Department. However, the provision of financial support is exceptional and is normally confined to special one-off events of international significance held in this country.
