Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Telecommunications Services.

Michael Ferris

Question:

175 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to the need for application forms for licences to be issued to community television providers; if she will ask the Director of Telecommunications Regulation to provide these application forms particularly to the south east in order that the provision of services can be resumed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21375/99]

The Director of Telecommunications Regulation has recently submitted to me for my consent draft regulations to establish a licensing regime for deflector TV operations. I am having these draft regulations examined in consultation with the Attorney General.

The provision of application forms in relation to the licensing of community television providers will be a matter for the director of telecommunications regulation, following implementation of these regulations.
