Question:574 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will implement the role of the principal review in national schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21254/99]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the report of the working group which I established last year to examine the rights, roles, duties and responsibilities of principals, both administrative principals and teaching principals, in primary schools. The working group, which included representatives from the education partners, has recently completed its report and has made a number of recommendations. I am currently considering the most appropriate response to this report.
