Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Billy Timmins

Question:

598 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the category of Wicklow VEC; and the plans, if any, he has to change this categorisation in view of the fact that it and Bray VEC have amalgamated and form one of the largest vocational education committees. [21351/99]

Vocational education committees are grouped into categories "for purposes of salary scales of Chief Executive Officers". County Wicklow VEC is currently in category 3.

My Department has recently received a request from County Wicklow VEC to recategorise the VEC in view of the recent amalgamation. The request is currently being given full consideration and my Department will revert directly to the VEC in the near future.
