190 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the basis and the provisions which permit his Department to offset income tax deemed to be due to the Revenue Commissioners against premium on sundry payments due to an applicant under these schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22622/99]

My Department complies with notices of attachment received from the office of the Revenue Commissioners. These notices are issued under section 1002 of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997.
