Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Vocational Education Committees.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

389 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the recent decision by Galway VEC to terminate the VTOS course in Rosmuc, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22152/99]

County Galway VEC recently decided to cancel the VTOS course in Rosmuc due to the low number of participants. However, the VEC has since reversed that decision and has agreed that the four students so far enrolled on the course may continue in a part-time capacity, at least for the present.

In the meantime, further efforts are being made to recruit more students for the course. If these efforts are successful, the VEC hopes to provide this course on a full-time basis from Monday 17 January 2000.
