Vol. 510 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

109 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22804/99]

The person named applied on 26 cows under the 1999 cattle headage and suckler cow schemes on 31 May 1999, together with 36 other animals under the cattle headage scheme. However two cows, eartag numbers HZA742324 and MAX040696, which had been listed on his application form, were found at an inspection on 15 July 1999 to have been retagged with numbers HAB283525 and HAB283536 respectively, on 18 May 1999, that is, prior to application. Under clause 13 of the 1999 cattle headage terms and conditions and clause 15 of the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme terms and conditions, which state that each animal's tag number must be entered accurately on the application, the retagged animals were rejected for payment. My Department will be writing to him on the matter shortly.
