Vol. 510 No. 4

Written Answers. - Examination Results.

John Browne

Question:

198 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will have information requested by the parents of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford relating to leaving certificate examination results in agricultural science made available to them; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22944/99]

I understand that the primary concern of the parents of the person concerned is to establish that he received credit for both elements of the agricultural science examination. I am assured that the results obtained in leaving certificate agricultural science by the person concerned include marks for both components of the examination i.e. project and written examination. The candidate appealed the grade awarded but the result remained unchanged.

I understand that the candidate has now made a request to the examination commissioners for independent verification that the Department followed the appeal procedures correctly. The examination commissioners will consider this shortly. The examination commissioners have access to all relevant documentation including the marks awarded for each component.
