Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Durkan – the need to discuss the reference to publications in the Library in the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 195 of 6 October 1999; (2) Deputy Hayes – the need to provide emergency accommodation in existing barracks or other facilities lying idle due to the escalating problem of homelessness in the Dublin area; (3) Deputy Sargent – the need to introduce an independent living fund to assist those with a disability to participate fully in society; (4) Deputy Michael Moynihan – the efforts and progress made in relation to the employment crisis in Duhallow, County Cork; (5) Deputy Kirk – the need to consider prioritising Drogheda, County Louth, for industrial development purposes; (6) Deputy Jim Higgins – the decision by gardaí not to operate the new Pulse computerised system for crime detection; (7) Deputy Howlin – the need for a full review of our immigration policy to ensure that all applications are dealt with quickly and efficiently; (8) Deputy Neville – the crisis in the prison service, particularly the conditions at Mountjoy Prison and (9) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) – the refused entry of two wedding guests at Dún Laoghaire port on 14 October 1999.

The matters raised by Deputies Durkan, Jim Higgins, Howlin and Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) have been selected for discussion.
