Paul McGrath

Question:

48 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the policy, if any, she has concerning the funding, on an ongoing basis, of new arts centres in provincal areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23731/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 31 and 48 together.

The implementation of the arts plan 1999-2001 including, inter alia, the ongoing funding of arts centres, is a matter for the Arts Council. The commitment contained in the review of An Action Programme for the Millennium in this regard reflects the Government's approval of the plan and its commitment to provide the financial resources which the council indicated were required to ensure its full implementation in the period to the end of 2001.
